Owning and installing an electric vehicle (EV) charging system interconnected with SCEC's distribution lines can be a personally satisfying and rewarding project for the member-owner. SCEC wants to help ensure the process is as smooth as possible from start to finish.
While SCEC does not install EV chargers, we do work with members to make sure they have all the information they need to make an informed decision. We also work with members and contractors to ensure any EV charging facility is safely interconnected.
We encourage all members to use a trustworthy local contractor. Local contractors are familiar with Wisconsin and SCEC's requirements.
Electric vehicles offer numerous benefits that make them an attractive option for many people:
If you would like to participate in the EV program, your charger will need to be CT metered and on our load management program. Please see the EV wiring diagram for specifications. You would also be eligible for our $400 rebate if you were enrolled in the program and have purchased the charger within 3 months.
Our EV program offers a special rate designed to incentivize charging during off-peak hours. The rates are as follows:
As an incentive, we offer these rates:
Based on surveys of electric vehicle (EV) owners, 80% of charging occurs at home. Install your home charger where you park the vehicle.
Your parking space should be clear of objects that may obstruct a vehicle’s ability to plug in; the cord should not wrap around or drape over the vehicle.
SCEC recognizes the need for convenient, publicly available electric vehicle charging stations.
We’ve joined with other cooperatives in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois to develop Levels 2 and 3 charging stations within co-op service territories, building the CHARGETM network.
