Interested in an Electric Vehicle?
Owning and installing an electric vehicle (EV) charging system interconnected with SCEC's distribution lines can be a personally satisfying and rewarding project for the member-owner. SCEC wants to help ensure the process is as smooth as possible from start to finish.
While SCEC does not install EV chargers, we do work with members to make sure they have all the information they need to make an informed decision. We also work with members and contractors to ensure any EV charging facility is safely interconnected.
We encourage all members to use a trustworthy local contractor. Local contractors are familiar with Wisconsin and SCEC's requirements.
Why Choose an Electric Vehicle?
Electric vehicles offer numerous benefits that make them an attractive option for many people:
- Environmental Benefits: EVs produce zero tailpipe emissions, which helps reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. This contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment.
- Cost Savings: EVs can lower your fuel costs significantly. Electricity is generally cheaper than gasoline, and EVs are more energy-efficient. Additionally, maintenance costs are lower because EVs have fewer moving parts and do not require oil changes.
- Performance: EVs provide instant torque, resulting in quick acceleration and a smooth driving experience. They are also quieter than traditional vehicles, offering a more pleasant ride.
- Incentives: There are various federal, state, and local incentives available for purchasing EVs, which can help offset the initial cost. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, and reduced registration fees.
